“It doesn’t really matter if I live in Paris, or in London, or here, in such a small village like Lejasciems. If you have an idea in your mind, all you need to do is believe and realise it,” says designer Laila Uiska.

“I try that my team would be right next to me, first of all so that they would also have a job. We can be equal to the big designers and artists. There is such a place in the world Lejasciems, where these designer shoes and bags come from, and they are made by local artisans,” Laila continues.

“Latvia – that’s my home. Those are my two sons that I want to raise in Latvia, so that they fall in love with every piece of land here, every tree. Latvia that’s who I am.”
